Bethany Lose

Lead Veterianry Technician

Bachelors of Science in Veterinary Technology (BSVT)

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Lead Technician | Hospital Leadership

Beth has been working in veterinary medicine for four years, but caring for others has been a lifelong passion. Veterinary medicine became her second career after retiring from the U.S. Army in 2021, where she served as a 68W Combat Medic. Her background in medicine, service, and patient care naturally carried over into veterinary medicine, giving her the opportunity to combine her medical experience with her lifelong love of animals.

Her love for animals was strengthened while helping an elderly woman care for her horses. Bethany quickly discovered how much she enjoyed caring for animals and the special bond they share with the people who love them. That experience ultimately helped lead her into veterinary medicine, where she found her passion in helping animals and giving them the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve.

As Lead Technician at God’s Dogs Rescue Veterinary Clinic, Bethany has a particular passion for rescue and shelter medicine. She especially enjoys working with animals who may have had difficult beginnings and helping them get the medical care they need to move forward toward a better life. She also enjoys surgery, patient care, and working with animals who require a little extra patience and understanding.

Bethany loves the family atmosphere at God’s Dogs Rescue Veterinary Clinic and the opportunity to work alongside a team that genuinely cares about animals and the people who love them. She especially values the clinic’s relationships with local rescue organizations and the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of animals who might otherwise go without needed medical care.

Bethany holds a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology (BSVT) from the University of Missouri and is a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). She is continuing to advance her education and professional development with the goal of pursuing her Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in Clinical Practice and Shelter Medicine.

Outside of the clinic, Bethany’s life is just as full of animals. She shares her home with her German Shepherd, Atticus Rex, the self-appointed king of the house; Guinevere, an Anatolian Shepherd who keeps everyone in line; and Xena, a Dutch Shepherd who is the outgoing, friendly one. She also has three cats—Caliope, Smitty, and Lemon—who are simply trying to survive life in a house full of shepherds. 😂

When she isn’t at the clinic, Bethany enjoys reading, cycling, geocaching, hiking, spending time outdoors and around the water, and spending time with her family and animals. She has a particular soft spot for German Shepherds, puppies, and horses.

One thing her clients may not know is that before becoming a veterinary technician, Bethany spent her career caring for people as an Army Combat Medic. If she weren’t working in veterinary medicine, she would probably be back at Fort Sam Houston as a 68W Combat Medic instructor, teaching and mentoring the next generation of medics. Once Army strong, always Army strong.

Bethany believes one of the most important things pet owners can do is pay attention to the little changes in their pets. Since animals can’t tell us when something is wrong, recognizing changes in behavior, appetite, activity, drinking, or bathroom habits can make a significant difference in their health.

“The best part of veterinary medicine is being able to help an animal who needs us and knowing that we made a difference in their life.”

And if you ask Bethany which clinic patient she’s most likely to sneak home, the answer is easy: a German Shepherd puppy. Although, if we’re being honest, she’s already done that. 😂

A Special Note from Dr. Knowlton ❤️

There is simply no way God's Dogs Rescue Veterinary Clinic would exist today without Beth.

When this clinic was nothing more than a vision, Beth stood beside me and spent months volunteering her time, knowledge, and expertise to help bring it to life. She poured countless hours into building something she believed in, long before we ever opened our doors. Her dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering support helped turn a dream into the clinic we are so proud of today.

And her work hasn't stopped.

So much of what makes our clinic run smoothly happens behind the scenes, and Beth is the person making it happen. From establishing pricing and creating surgical packages to developing discharge instructions, managing inventory, ordering, and receiving supplies (which could easily be a full-time job on its own!), Beth handles an extraordinary amount of responsibility that most clients never see.

Beth is also one of the brightest people I know. A valedictorian in seemingly every class she takes, she has an incredible drive to learn, improve, and challenge herself. And she expects the same growth from those around her—not out of criticism, but because she genuinely believes in her team and wants every one of us to be the very best we can be.

That includes me.

There are plenty of times when I turn to her and ask, "Beth, what do you think?" And sometimes her answer is simply, "You're better than that." 😂 She's not afraid to challenge me, and together, we problem-solve, learn, and find a better way forward. Every veterinarian deserves someone they trust enough to have those conversations with, and I'm incredibly fortunate that Beth is that person for me.

Her dedication to our clients and patients extends far beyond clinic hours. She's the one answering calls and texts late at night, responding on weekends, and making sure that things are taken care of even when no one is watching.

Beth may have a tough exterior—Army strong, through and through—but underneath it is one of the biggest hearts you'll ever find, especially when it comes to animals and the people who love them.

I could never adequately put into words the amount of knowledge, hard work, sacrifice, and love Beth has invested in this clinic.

I couldn't have built God's Dogs Rescue Veterinary Clinic without her, and I certainly couldn't do what I do every day without her by my side.
