Sarah Luginbill

Veterinary Assistant

Meet Sarah, one of our Veterinary Assistants at God's Dogs Rescue Veterinary Clinic!

Sarah is currently away at college pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian, but she's still very much a part of our GDRVC family. ❤️ She was out very first veterinary assistant, putting in countless hours of volunteering to help the clinic get up and running from organzing inside the clinic, assisting with surgery prep and recovery, to putting in blood sweat and tears outside of the clinic as well with landscaping and trips to Laredo/helping take care of patients while we are out of town. Her handling skills are effortless, even with the scardest of dogs as she has fostered over 200 animals and socialized them, finding them homes before the age of 18 years old!

Sarah's journey into veterinary medicine began in 2022 when she became involved with animal rescue and started fostering puppies. What began as a desire to help animals in need quickly grew into a passion for veterinary medicine and a dream of one day becoming a veterinarian herself. She's always had a love for animals and knew she wanted to spend her life helping them in whatever way she could. Now, she's turning that passion into a career!

Why Veterinary Medicine? ❤️

For Sarah, veterinary medicine is all about making a difference in the lives of animals who need someone to advocate for them. She especially enjoys rescue medicine and surgery, where she gets to see firsthand how veterinary care can transform an animal's life.

Sarah also has a special place in her heart for fearful and reactive dogs. She understands that some animals need a little extra patience, understanding, and compassion to feel safe, and she loves being able to provide that reassurance.

And if there's a Mastiff around? You can bet Sarah is going to find her way over to say hello! 🐶

Why God's Dogs Rescue Veterinary Clinic?

One of Sarah's favorite things about working at GDRVC is the strong sense of community among the team.

She loves her coworkers and the opportunity to work alongside people who share her passion for helping animals. Whether she's assisting with patient care, learning something new, or celebrating a patient's recovery, Sarah appreciates being part of a team that genuinely cares about the work they do.

Even while she's away at college pursuing her education, Sarah remains part of the GDRVC family, and we're excited to watch her continue growing toward her goal of becoming a veterinarian.

Meet Sarah's Not-So-Furry Friend! 🦎

While many of our team members have houses full of dogs and cats, Sarah's beloved companion is a little different!

Meet Rooster Clyde, her leopard gecko, who is approximately 6–8 years old and apparently has quite the attitude.

Sarah lovingly describes him as cranky, but that doesn't stop her from absolutely adoring him. He may not be the cuddliest member of the GDRVC extended family, but he's certainly full of personality! 😂

Outside the Clinic

When Sarah isn't studying, caring for patients, or helping rescue animals, she loves spending time outdoors, especially hiking.

She also enjoys spending time with friends and family and continuing her involvement in animal rescue.

One of her favorite ways to give back is volunteering with equine therapeutic riding programs, where horses help provide meaningful experiences and support for people with a variety of needs.

For Sarah, helping animals and helping people often go hand in hand. And if she weren't pursuing veterinary medicine? She'd probably be working at an animal shelter. As long as animals are involved, she'd be happy! ❤️

Sarah's Advice to Pet Parents 💙

Sarah wants every pet owner to know one important thing: "We care for each of your furry family members like our own." Whether your pet is visiting for routine care, surgery, or an unexpected illness, Sarah wants families to feel confident that their animals are being treated with kindness, patience, and genuine compassion.

"The best part of veterinary medicine is…"

"Saving lives and healing what has been hurt." ❤️ It's a simple statement that perfectly captures why Sarah is working so hard to become a veterinarian.
